Abstract
In issue 28 of Children's Readings, we addressed the topic of children's literature in various media, attempting to overcome researchers' bias towards studying printed texts, since the history of children's literature in the 20th century (unlike, say, the 18th and 19th centuries) cannot be written solely on the basis of ‘paper’ books. Literary works for children were distributed in the form of film adaptations and various forms of animation and sound recordings, with video and audio versions often becoming the most popular way for audiences to get acquainted with Pinocchio, Winnie the Pooh, Alice Selezneva and other literary characters.
