“Transforming Children’s Minds”: Children’s Poetry and Cognitive Poetics
Abstract
In an article “Transforming Children’s Minds: Children’s Poetry and Cognitive Poetics” by Dr Karen’s Coats, Professor of English at Illinois State University and one of the leading specialists in children’s literature in the US today, the issue of the difficult relationship between the physical body of a child and the reflection of this body in the language is discussed. Coats propose an interesting way of solving problems and fears that a child is experiencing while growing up and suggests that the metaphorical way of addressing bodily changes through cognitive children’s poetry will help a child to resolve disturbing moments of transformation and adjustment.Downloads
