Lenin and Eye Glasses: On the Sources of L. Sa­ veliev’s ‘The Storming of the Winter Palace’

Abstract

Iulia Valieva’s article, “Lenin and Eye Glasses: On the Sources of L. Sa­veliev’s ‘The Storming of the Winter Palace’”, provides a historical background for Leonid Lipavsky’s book, The Storming of the Winter Palace (1938), written under the pen name of L. Saviliev. At the core of the analysis the correspondence between the author and the editor of Detgiz, K. Piskunov, which is currently located at RGALI (Rossiiski Gosudarstvennii Arkhiv Literatury i Iskusstva). The researcher analyzes the preliminary stages of the book’s publication history, paying special attention to the use of cino-citation as a means of avoiding censorship.
