Abstract

In “Old New Tale: The Mythopoetic Subtext of Samuil Marshak’s play, ‘Twelve Months’”, Katia Cennet examines the structural morphology of Marshak's revision of the Czech tale that served as a basis for Marshak's creation. The author studies the creation process of this “new” tale that, in Marshak’s idea, should have incorporated a rich heritage of Russian folklore and, at the same time, should have reflected upon new historical reality.

Keywords: tale, children's literature, mythopoesis, folklore, orphan, Hundred Acre Wood, anachronism, Samuil Marshak, “Twelve Months”.
