Russian advice literature for girls: brief history and bibliography

Abstract

The article is dedicated to the successful commercial genre of advice literature for girls. Originating in 18th-century didactic books of parental advice the genre was not in great demand in Soviet time but has returned
triumphantly after the Soviet Union fell. The article discusses publication dynamics and provides a bibliography of gendered didactic literature of the 18th-19th centuries and a selected bibliography of encyclopedias for girls
of the 20th-21st centuries.
