"Doves" by S. Yushkevich 1914: a case of banning pornography in a children's book
Abstract
The article examines the history and reasons for the banning of S. Yushkevich's book "Doves", in which critics saw signs of pornography. The paradox of the situation was that not only were there no signs of pornography in the book, but it was not intended for children either. But experts on formal characteristics (format, print, cover, illustrations) recognized the publication as a child, which led to the subsequent ban on distribution.
