    The 11th issue of “Childrenʼs Readings” is devoted primarily to the interaction of Russian culture and literature with cultures and literatures of the countries widely understood as Eastern, as well as to certain features of the development of childrenʼs literature and literature about children in China and Japan.

    This current issue of “Children’s Readings” (issue #12) is dedicated to the centennial of the 1917 Russian Revolution. The articles that comprise this volume concern various questions of revolutionary history and provide highlights to the status and impact that the revolutionary events of 1917 made on the history of children’s literature in Russia. We have invited scholars to consider the following questions: Did a rupture in literary tradition occur in the year 1917? If it did occur, then how was it manifested and in what way did it proceed?; Is it possible to propose a model not based on conflict for the changes occurring in children’s literature in the 1910s and 1920s?; Did any forgotten experiments in children’s literature from the beginning of the 1910s reappear under new historical circumstances?; How did modernism and the avant‑garde shape children’s literature of the 1910s–1920s?; Was the revolution a reason for the gradual crowding out of modernism in the 1920s?; What were the reasons for the fate of the avant‑garde in Soviet children’s literature?

    Volume Nine of Children’s Readings is dedicated to the studies of Tove Jansson’s narratives about Moomintrolls. The scholarship dedicated to this famous Scandinavian author (1914–2001), who was recognized as a classic for children’s literature of the XXth century, is full of gaps and omissions. A significant amount of responses to her books that were translated into Russian in pedagogical literature overpowered the study of this author’s aesthetics and her stories’ literary value. Thus, this particular volume is called to present a new phase in the scholarship of this author and her work. Scholars present in this volume are participants of the International Conference, “Philosophical Experience of Children’s Literature: Moomintrolls and Others”, that was organized in celebration of Tove Jansson’s centennial. Those authors represent different branches of the humanities from philosophy to philology and cultural studies, thus demonstrating different approaches to the subject of their research.

    The 10th issue of “Children’s Readings” reflects the wide spectrum of problems that are of interest to specialists within the field of children’s literature. Among them are the challenges of Soviet-era children’s literature reception; questions related to the history of children’s literature critiqued; and commentaries for the reprints of the literary works published during the Soviet period. Discussed in this volume are such topics as visual aspects in children’s literature, as well as topics high‑lighting history of literary imagination.

    Выпуск посвящен проблеме "детская литература и идеология".  Авторы номера, листая советские детские книжки, пробуют ответить на целый ряд сложных вопросов: какие ограничения накладывают жанровые формы на идеологические постулаты, например, как краеведческое письмо встраивается в патриотический государственный дискурс и одновременно в авангардистские проекты лигитимизации ребенка-писателя, каков генезис советских героических моделей поведения, представленных в детской литературе, как варьируют представления о дружбе, любви, подвиге в отдельные периоды советской детской литературы.
